[Well... that wasn't entirely encouraging. She didn't quite catch that first expression but... oh well. She could still do this. It wasn't that bad. She shuffles forward a bit, head a little ducked. Then, slowly, she takes a deep breath and straightens herself up a bit.]

Hello. [Um.] People told me that here was where I could go if I wanted to ask if there was something I could do? To help around here?

[Well. At least that's useful. He makes an effort to smile as pleasantly as he can, leaning back into his seat and trying to appear relaxed.]

Ah, that's very kind of you. I'm sure I could find something if you're interested in helping out...

[Not like there's ever any lack of shit that needs to be done, but he makes a point of shuffling through the papers on his desk like he needs to dig something up. It doesn't suit his tastes to appear overwhelmed by work.]

[The truth of it is that Xion likely wouldn't have noticed all too much if he hadn't gone to the effort to appear calm and collected. She wouldn't have recognized a lot of the difference. As it is her eyes widen and she seems slightly startled, ducking her head sheepishly.]

Oh! Yes. [Um.] I just got here not too long ago.

[His easy disposition seems a bit more natural as he continues -- it's always satisfying when he can fluster others for whatever reason, and it's a subtle confidence boost he really needs right now.]
