I delivered the all the letters and packages that I could! I know some people wanted replies so I got those too, but I don't know when I'm going to be able to get back to Redgate. If I find a way to send them to you, can you make sure they get to their friends and families? I can still try if not, but it might take a while!
[The Silver Sickness has finally been clearing up, and with the return of normalcy (relatively speaking) comes the return of... certain less-than-welcome thoughts. Xion's still thinking about what Lightning and Yuri had told her. About the courts, about the war, everything. It was a lot to stomach at once, and a large part of her wants to hide until she can better deal with it.
Add that to how working on Hiro's research had - for all its dead ends and detours - left her feeling like she'd been contributing and accomplishing something, and Xion had wondered if maybe doing something similar would help. Almost sort of like a mission back home would have been. And maybe... maybe the time would give her room to think. She wouldn't push Lightning or Yuri to come with her. Both already had been doing their own things thus far, from what she'd heard and seen.
In any case, it hadn't taken her much asking around to be pointed in the right direction. And that was how she found herself at Saralegui's office in Redgate, tentatively knocking on the door.]
Um... hello?

[It's been a rough month for Redgate's young lord. It's not Xion's fault that he initially looks up from the papers in front of him with an irritated expression, and the fact the he's quick to wipe it away in favor of something more neutral is a testament to that.]
Can I help you?
[He's normally more pleasant and charming than this, anyone in the fortress would say as much. Just...yeah. Rough month.]
[Well... that wasn't entirely encouraging. She didn't quite catch that first expression but... oh well. She could still do this. It wasn't that bad. She shuffles forward a bit, head a little ducked. Then, slowly, she takes a deep breath and straightens herself up a bit.]
Hello. [Um.] People told me that here was where I could go if I wanted to ask if there was something I could do? To help around here?
[Well. At least that's useful. He makes an effort to smile as pleasantly as he can, leaning back into his seat and trying to appear relaxed.]
Ah, that's very kind of you. I'm sure I could find something if you're interested in helping out...
[Not like there's ever any lack of shit that needs to be done, but he makes a point of shuffling through the papers on his desk like he needs to dig something up. It doesn't suit his tastes to appear overwhelmed by work.]
[The truth of it is that Xion likely wouldn't have noticed all too much if he hadn't gone to the effort to appear calm and collected. She wouldn't have recognized a lot of the difference. As it is her eyes widen and she seems slightly startled, ducking her head sheepishly.]
[His easy disposition seems a bit more natural as he continues -- it's always satisfying when he can fluster others for whatever reason, and it's a subtle confidence boost he really needs right now.]
Perhaps something relatively simple, then. Have you had much opportunity to explore the Drabwurld yet?
( Elizabeth looks fatigued but hopeful, a triumphant upward tilt to her chin as she smiles at him. In one hand she holds up the volume she'd borrowed from the library, the picture zooming in so that he might read the text for himself. Behind the picture of the wall of text treatise, Elizabeth sighs softly. )
Do you see it! The Void is as the monarchs are; a God. Like them, it might be slain via the murder of its Avatar.
But, I know not who it might be, or if it has even chosen one. We shall have to look into the matter at once.
( A moment of adjusting, and her face is back in view once again. )
My lord, I do so sincerely apologise for my vast delay in reaching out to you. But if you would still wish conversation and company, I am freely at your service.
[The note is handed to Saralegui through Maelle. Until Saralegui touches it, the note will be a harmless report on the state of the theatre. Once he does, the true text will slip onto the page.]
Some things you might want to know regarding a Mutual Interest.
You can control the Void, as much as you have the shards to do it. A handful of shards can control smaller fragments of the Void—this looks like it links to the research of Malichides over at your university—but any real attempt to control it requires massive collections. Presumably, what the courts have. You can get a lot more safely near the Void if you have a shard and know how to push it back.
The Void definitely consumes everything, tangible and otherwise. My reports are all arguing that what is consumed is ended but remains within it in a state of potential for the rebirth. Sounds like the Monarchs are at least honest about that. Tossing a Shard into the Void will make it lurch forward faster, so there's a heartwarming thought for some.
The alternative is sounding pretty dire. This came from people who worship the Void, so have a little skepticism, but nothing about it seems wrong. Looks like the Uaine Cridhe and the Void are two sides of the same coin—ultimate creation and ultimate destruction. Destroy one and you more or less make the other one useless. Ending the Void means a sort of 'endless twilight,' which I'm guessing to be the slow process of making all the multiverse lukewarm and decrepit. Destroying the Void also means we don't get anything lost back. The Uaine Cridhe once was all existence, and the Void's going to put it back into that state. If it does (and remember this is from its worshippers) then everything will come back, since it'll consume everything.
Oh, and it sounds like the Void has itself an Avatar.
