[night's already fallen by the time he gets around to this, but it's only prudent to answer regardless. he needs some line of communication with the mainland and redgate right now too, and waver's probably the best option for that.]
Forgive me for the delay. Things have been a bit...hectic.
[this is the worst you'll ever see his hair looking. treasure this moment.]
Have you already halted those that were still on their way to Redgate? I can't be certain right now if there's any danger ahead of them...
Good. I don't know what you might have heard so far, but Reynard was already there when we arrived. "Captured", by which I mean he'd let himself be put in a cell and waited there patiently before breaking out when he felt like it. He gathered all of us that had already arrived under the guise of a negotiation for the bones of ALyosha's family -- bones he'd apparently already taken -- and did something to teleport us all away to the middle of the ocean. Magic, I believe, using his shards to overcome the blood granite.
If he's still at Redgate or not, I don't know. We've only just gotten ourselves taken care of over here. Eren isn't even awake yet.
I can confirm to you that, as of my recent discussion with the current Redgate administration which has requested that all help intended for the fortress be directed to finding you lot, Reynard is not present. A cursory attempt to find him has resulted in noting that his movements are more like teleportations. Hardly a good sign.
[Waver cannot say that Reynard permitting himself to be captured is a surprise. That he's after bones now though? That's new, and disturbing.]
I'd love a full account later, or unless you're truly that bored. What kind of craft are you on presently, and how is everyone holding up?
[he settles for answering just the direct questions right now -- he's doubtlessly going to have to recount the full story several times if he tells everyone individually, and he's more concerned about finding out the current situation back home for himself right now.]
It's an ordinary trade ship, though a heavily damaged one right now. Everyone in our group suffered little to no physical injury, but Alice had a close call with hypothermia.
...If he survived Reynard, then I'm sure he's fine. Physically, at least.
[he'd survived, and that's enough for now. saralegui is good at controlling his own expression, but he can't hide the way he'd held his breath a little, and exhaled the slightest sigh of relief at the sound of that name.]
The ship is seaworthy enough to make it back to port, at least, but I imagine it'll need a great deal of repairs once there. There was a run-in with a sea serpent that we were sort of...dropped in the middle of.
Any updates you can give me on the current situation in Redgate. And we need to figure out what Reynard's done with those bones -- where he's taken them, or at least what he's planning on using them for. Even if they weren't the bones of Alyosha's family, I'd still rather not let him keep something so clearly necessary for whatever he's plotting.
Redgate and its people are unharmed. Reynard's plans could have him want to fuck it over later on, but for now, it is safe.
[Waver rubs at his eyes, feeling his brain start to finally admit to exhaustion right now.]
As far as Reynard's intentions, I suspect I'll know more when we can get a better form of communication into Redgate itself. Kaldur had some luck with getting in contact with the second of Redgate's champions, Bolin, who is likely to arrive there come morning. We can use that line of communication to relay more messages with Tzilan and go from there.
ehhh maybe a bit earlier would make more sense but whatever, we'll fudge it

21st, I suspect then?

[a breath, and a carefully neutral expression.]
Who is currently in charge at Redgate?
no subject
[Hypothermia isn't what Waver would call little to no physical injury, but now isn't the time to quibble.]
Okay. How badly damaged? You're clearly not drowning but--

Christ. Honestly, we can get people out to you quicker come sunlight.

And could your people speed along our trip?

[It's a firm yes, even if the truth is it's tentative. The idea is starting to formulate though, and come morning Waver knows it will be done.]
What else do you need in the mean time?
