[The gift is a little late, but the Brucolac's been busy, and he didn't realise gifts were meant to be given until people started giving them to him. It's a fighting knife with a white leather sheath. A piece of red ribbon is wrapped about its handle, along with a sprig of holly, and it's delivered by one of Sara's own men upon returning to Redgate.]
On my first visit to Redgate, I was given a red ribbon for luck. I ended up nearly dying on the back of a dragon, so perhaps it doesn't workâbut I consider my introduction to the place fortunate enough.
Re the knife: throat, hands, feet, eyes. Don't waste your time anywhere protected by the ribcage.
May winter's bite lack teeth, to you and to Redgate.
[A return gift and note comes a few days afterwards, definitely late but hey, he wasn't really doing the gifts thing either until he started reviving gifts himself.]
Thank you for the very considerate gift. The least I can do in return is test it out for your sake.
Saralegui
[And with the note comes a vial of blood, wrapped in cloth and fabric to survive the trip -- his own, of course.]
